Today I would like to share with you what happened to me during a recent visit to Next. Last year whilst returning a Next Directory item in store, I was offered a Next Directory card, which surprised me, as the account linked to the card is in my husbands name. However it wasn't the first time that I had been offered the card, I'd actually been offered it on a number of occasions. This time I accepted it and have since been using it on a number of occasions, whilst in store.

However during a recent visit to the store, whilst purchasing a number of items and using the card to pay for them, I was asked by the lady serving me "is the card in your name?" I replied "no, it's in my husbands name." The shop assistant was very rude to me and replied "you can't use it then, as it has to be signed by your husband." To add to that point the card actually had my signature on it and not my husband's. The lady then said "I should actually take the card off you." I was made to feel like a common criminal!

So I emailed a complaint - why was the card offered to me in the first place and not once but on a number of occasions. I do not look like a male, so it couldn't have been a case of mistaking me for a male. Additionally why have I been allowed to use the card on a number of previous occasions.

Result - I received a £30.00 gift-card, which can also be used to pay towards your Next Directory account.

However this complaint led to another complaint, as the apology letter that I received, was in fact intended for someone else, which is a security breach. So I e-mailed Next and included a scanned copy of the letter.

Result - I received a beautiful peony flower bouquet.
